5 Ways to Save Money Effortlessly.

Sitting down each week, or even each month, to make money saving decisions is not at the top of my list…spending it is. So here are 5 easy ways for you to save money with little to no effort. I promise…you won’t even feel it.

Set up automatic transfers from checking to savings via your bank’s website. Even as little at $25/month, will leave you with an extra $300 saved at the end of the year.
Even better, have an automatic transfer from your checking account to an individual investment account with a company like T.Rowe Price. I have been transferring $50/month into my account for about two years now, and my account is already up to $1000. I didn’t even realize it was missing and the years flew by.
(This tip is random and totally out of place, but it works) Use your samples. We all have them, tons of free samples taking up space in our bathroom drawers. Don’t wait for a vacation to use them, use them now, or until you spot an amazing deal on your shampoo. Also, you can get samples almost anywhere. Stop by Sephora or your make-up counter at Nordstrom, believe me, they want to give them to you. Just ask.
Never write a check again. Although saving 39 cents to mail a letter is not a huge incentive, having your bank print and mail your checks, not only saves you money, but automatically keeps track of your spending which saves you grief.
On that same note, pay all of your bills online automatically. Of course you have to make sure that you have enough money in your checking account to cover those gas and electric bills, but concentrating on only one account is a lot easier than having to concentrate on ten. Having your bills set up for auto-pay through your bank keeps you safe from late fees and high interest rates.

Hulu, I really wish it were a term I had coined to describe my slut cousin, but I will have to settle for the second best definition–fucking free television and movies. Hulu.com is not only a website for you to watch television shows and movies for free, but it’s also a way for you to save a ton of money. Do as I am trying to convince my roommates, and cancel your cable. If we canceled our cable at our apartment and only paid for Internet, where you can watch almost every television show ever, we would be saving an extra $50/month. That’s $50 that cold be saved or spent somewhere else. Here’s the deal, if you visit abc.com, nbc.com, fox.com, cbs.com, you can watch almost any network show you want (and don’t even get me started on cable). Of course you cannot watch them at the exact time that they would air, you may have to wait a day, however should we really be watching television all by ourselves anyway? This is another opportunity for us to socialize and interact well with others. Have tv parties, so if you are dying to watch Lost in HD (which you can do online by the way), but need it on Wednesday night at 9pm, then head over to your girlfriend’s house and bring cookie dough ($2) you’re then saving $48 and making a social activity out of it.

If you are like me, it seems that everyone and their effing uncle is getting married this year. I’m not kidding, I was just invited to my friend’s uncle’s wedding.
